How to Run BlackBerry Facebook App Without BIS/BES over WiFi

Have you ever thought that you could even use BlackBerry’s Facebook App without BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) or BlackBerry Enterprise Server?

Here is good news for BlackBerry users, now you can use the Facebook for BlackBerry 2.0 over WiFi. This app enables Push Notifications, Calendar Synchronization, Facebook chat, Improved News Feeds and much more features.

To enable Facebook over WiFi follow the steps below:

1. Go to BlackBerry Beta Zone, or click here.

2. If you are already a member, simply Log In. Otherwise click on Register Now.

3. While you are registering yourself, make sure you know your BB’s PIN. You can check this out from Options->Status ->PIN.

4. Once you have registered, a confirmation email will be sent on your email address that you provided. Confirm your registration process by clicking on ‘Click here to activate your account‘.

5. Now you have been successfully registered. If you are using your PC for the registration you need to Log in via your BB to BlackBerry Beta Zone to download the Facebook 2.0. (use WiFi if available)

6. Once the app has been downloaded, don’t make a haste to login, because it won’t work. You have to do few more things to make it work. Open your Beta Zone profile, go to My Account and click on Keycodes.

7. Click on ‘Get latest keycode‘. A key code will be emailed to you. Make sure that you are using your BB to get key code from your email, because the key code is large enough, in fact very large that you cannot remember. Copy the key code.

8. Open the Facebook App, scroll down and paste the key code and click agree.

9. If your Facebook app is not working at this stage, restart your phone.

10. Congrats ! Now your are good to use Facebook 2.0 over WiFi.

Now that the official version for Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones 2.0 has been released to App World, we will soon be closing the (Consumer) Facebook 2.0 beta program.

Update [September 10, 2011]

Facebook 2.00.45 works on Wifi. If you want to install it, browse Facebook using the default browser. You will be informed to install Facebook for BB. Click on the link and install the app. Enjoy !

    I can’t find the “Get latest Keycodes” on the keycode..

    It is adjacent to the (Consumer) Facebook 2.0 under the keycode column. But be sure you have downloaded the facebook app from the Beta Zone. Only then you can get the keycode for Facebook.

    select the keycode first, click copy from the menu and open Facebook app, scroll down to the end. And paste the code in front of the Keycode.

    This is a bug in this app I guess, Everytime I try to open photos I get this error too. So far no fix is available for this error. But we will keep you updated.

    i download yesterday 2.0.0.37 version there is no key codes over there. when i try to login in it says me upgrade ur data plan or connect to wifi. i have activated my BIS and i also connected to wifi. but this app is not working. m using os 6. facebook 1.6.0.22 works on os 5. but i dont like os 5 due to which i upgrade my os. now i downloaded fb 2.0.0.37 it is not working plz help me :(

    when you open the facebook app for the first time it show you the agreement/term/conditions scroll down and paste the keycode at the end.

    if you have activated BIS, you cannot make Facebook 2.0 work over the data plan, it only works over Wifi. if you have logged into Beta zone, go to My programs tab, you will see the Facebook 2.0 in your programs. just click Get latest keycode in front of facebook 2.0. Your keycode will be mailed to you.

    This app will only work with Wifi. I tried to run this app over BIS but it didnt work. For that you have to install another version of facebook.

    Yes the official version of Facebook is now available at the BB App World, which only works with BIS. Up till now there is not other way to make Facebook work over Wifi. We will keep you updated regarding this issue.

    they need it in order to make sure that you own a BB or not. For one BB you can sign up to only one account.

    yeah sometimes it stops working, pull the battery out and plug in again, it will start working.

    you don’t need a key code if you are downloading from the BB App world. I downloaded it from the App world and didnt came across any point where the app asked for a key code.

    browse Fb using BB browser – it will suggest you to download the latest version of Fb.

    pull your battery out and insert it again…. turn on your BB and it will start working. It worked for me…

    I have a problem with Facebook 2.0.0.58. The first night I got it it was working fine. But when I tried to connect again this morning it says I need a data plan. I don’t have any data plan so I only base on WIFI! I don’t know what’s the problem anymore.

     Hey guys u can access facebook on ur BB using UCbrowser for BB wich has a dedicated facebook tab that works similar to facebook app. also to download and use free app on your BB you can use AyoWorld which is kinda alternative for App world. Hope this helps and dont forget to like this if has been helpful.
