Samsung may launch Android-based TVs
After launching Android based Smartphones: the Galaxy S Smartphone and Samsung Fascinate as well as Galaxy Tab; Samsung is now considering using the Android OS on its new line of TV’s.
In April, the Korea Herald reported that an unnamed Samsung executive said the company could develop “Google TVs” running Android. “We are considering [developing] Google TVs,” the unnamed Samsung executive reported told the Korea Herald at the time. “We are examining the business feasibility of Google TVs.”
Speaking to reporters earlier today, Samsung exec Yoon Boo Keun said the company is “reviewing” the possibility of adding Android’s features to its sets.
Samsung is not the first manufacture to work with Google TV. Earlier Sony and Logitech have also introduced the Android Based TV but with Samsung’s 20% market share in US TV market, this could be the biggest step for Google TV.
